Dee's Cycle For Sepsis

Vietnam to Cambodia Cycle · 11 November 2017
HELLO, I’m Dee and I am going to cycle……
“VIETNAM TO CAMBODIA FOR THE SEPSIS TRUST”
In June of 2016 my husband died suddenly aged 64 of Sepsis. It all happened so quickly and was a great shock. Before Steve died none of the family had ever heard of sepsis, so I want to raise money to help the Sepsis Trust continue their good work educating the general public and health professionals on the signs and symptoms of sepsis.
The Sepsis trust is a charity and relies on fundraising events to help them communicate and educate health professionals to spread awareness among the public. With 150,000 cases every year resulting to over 44,000 deaths.
Sepsis is something we all need to be aware of it kills more people than Bowel, Breast and Prostate cancer combined.
It is a life threatening condition that arises when the body’s response to an infection injures it own tissues and organs, it leads ultimately to death if not treated early.
So now I need to dust my bike off and start my training so I am not left behind on the starting line ( not that it is a race) but I am sure it will bring out the competitive side. I must admit its been a while since I have been in the saddle, but I am determine to complete this journey and raise the much needed money for Sepsis and make my husband proud. I know he will be with me all the way looking down and willing me on each day. The whole journey will take 10 days so I will definitely need some extra padded shorts!!
I am committed to raise £3100 and have set up a giving page for this.
If I am successful in raising the agreed amount I will be so happy, not only that the sponsored amount would have been reached for Sepsis Trust, but if I exceed this amount then this will be awesome for the charity, in helping them, helping us, and saving lives.
I will endeavour to post a daily blog of my progress ( if I can still breath by the end of each day) to let you know how I am getting on. I have never undertaken anything on this scale especially at the age of 60 years, but lets do it.
So now I need to start my training ready for the ride which will be starting on the 11 November
Please spare what you can to help raise awareness about this deadly illness that is treatable if detected early enough.
