Story
Wow! Another year and another 5K challenge completed and what an achievement to say we have raised over £1000! We couldn’t have done it without the support and encouragement from every person who has generously donated, especially everyone at ABWorld Foods and the staff and students at St Marys.
Having completed our swim in a team best time and to continue watching the total on JustGiving increase as we speak, is nothing short of “The Joy of Giving” at its best!
We hope we have made our nan proud by continuing to do what she firmly believed in.
We can’t thank you all enough - to the people we personally know and to those who we may not, your words of encouragement have gone a long way - especially nearing the 190th length :) .
We will see you again next year in March for Swimathon 2022. Till then stay safe and continue the Joy of Giving .

Hello everyone! We are back for another year as we prepare to participate in our fifth swimathon 5K challenge. Before we start, we would just like to say a massive thank you to all the people who have supported us throughout the last 4 years, with a special mention to everyone at ABWorld Foods and the staff and students at St Marys High. Reaching our targets would not have been possible without your generous contributions year on year, so far totaling to over £1200!
As always, this swim will be dedicated to our amazing nan who sadly passed away in 2017 from cancer. She told us to never forget that, “The joy of giving is always greater than the joy of receiving” and that is what we have named our campaign for the fifth year running to keep her legacy alive.
Last year was difficult for everyone everywhere in the world, but non more so than cancer patients. Diagnosis and treatment have suffered beyond what anyone could have imagined and recent analysis shows that even with significant extra resource (over and above pre-pandemic levels), it will take 20 months to clear the backlog in cancer diagnosis. 650,000 people with cancer in the UK (22%) have experienced disruption to their cancer treatment or care and for around 150,000 people this included delayed, rescheduled or cancelled treatment.
This years target is £500 and we hope that we can reach out to the people who have been sidelined over the last 18 months to help them access the care they need through the 2 amazing charities-Cancer Research UK and Make Curie.
Please join us on this swimathon journey by donating what you can as every contribution will make a difference.
Thank you once again for your support and remember that “The joy of giving is always greater than the joy of receiving’’
