My personal challenge to raise funds for a difibrillator for Tingley Athletic FC · 31 May 2015

FA Community Charter Standard football club based in Tingley, Wakefield West Yorkshire. Providing football from 4 year old to Open Age for both Male & Female.

Story

Having heard the sad news about the 15 year old collapsing and passing away whilst playing football recently I want to raise money to allow Tingley Athletic FC to buy a defibrillator for the clubhouse.

Funds are always tight at grassroots football and many clubs are struggling each year to simply survive so can not afford life saving equipment such as a defibrillator but having had an internal defibrillator fitted I know how important such a piece of equipment can be in saving someone's life.

I have previously raised money for Heart Foundation by doing a gruelling 127 mile non stop bike ride but this time it is my intension to walk from Tingley to Bridlington and back. The total walk is estimated to take 44 hours to complete (approx 150 miles) so I plan to split it over a 3/4 days.

A date has yet to be confirm by I expect it to be between April and June 2015 and will confirm as soon as the date is set.

If you would like to walk some, or even all, of the way with me I would greatly appreciate the company.

If you can help the fundraising campaign in anyway, be it financially or by promoting the cause to a wider circle, I would greatly appreciate any support.

Defibrillator facts ....
For every minute that passes without defibrillation chances of survival decrease by 7-10%
Heart disease (including heart attacks) was the leading cause of death for both sexes in England and Wales in 2005
Cardiac arrest patients have a survival rate up to 49% when a defibrillator is used within the first five to seven minutes after the attack
