Story
I will be running the Great North Run Half Marathon 2022 on September 11th to raise money for Beat, the UK's leading eating disorder charity.
Sadly, my family's life has been significantly affected by eating disorders over the past few years. However unfortunately, eating disorders are so prevalent within our society, with an estimated 1.25 million people struggling with these illnesses, with this figure continually rising. The COVID pandemic has only made the situation worse, leading to incredible pressure on an already overwhelmed NHS mental health service, significantly increasing demand on charities like Beat.
Beat provides incredible advice to not only those suffering with eating disorders, but the friends and family supporting them. They offer a national helpline, available 365 days a year, where they help people understand their illness and take positive steps towards recovery. They also acknowledge the huge strain eating disorders place on families, and provide a lot of information and support to carers, through their website, courses and workshops.
For more information, please visit Beat's website: www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk
I want to run the Great North Run to help Beat in their fight to end these awful illnesses. I would really appreciate any donation, every little bit helps.
Thank you so much, Della xx
