Fundraising in aid of local research into gastro-oesophageal (stomach and gullet) cancers, investigating the causes of these devastating diseases and personalising treatment.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running my first half marathon in October and have decided to use the opportunity to raise some money for the University of Aberdeen's GASTROCAN fund - a project dedicated to research into gastro-oesophageal (stomach and gullet) cancers.

It's probably something you haven't heard much about, or even thought of, but it's a cause close to me after losing two members of our family to this cancer - my Gran and her sister, Aunty Cath.

A patient with breast cancer has an eight in 10 chance of completely beating the disease, compared with just one in 10 gastro-oesophageal cancer patients.  As a former student of the University of Aberdeen, I'm really happy to be able to help them in leading the search for more effective treatments.
