Playlist for Life wants every person living with dementia to have access to a personal playlist and for those who love and care for them to know how to use it. Personal playlists can reduce anxiety, improve moods, make tasks more manageable and help families and carers connect to their loved one.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In the last years of my Dad's life, the only thing he appeared to gain any pleasure from was his music. But it needed to be 'his' music, not the typical stuff that competes with the TV noise in nursing homes.

I'm going to create my own Playlistforlife and run the Groundhog Marathon on 7 March 2015 - which is a gruelling 105.5 laps around an athletics track. Dead or Alive's 'You spin me round' will feature!

There is mounting evidence that if people with dementia are offered frequent access to the music in which their past experience and memories are embedded, it can:

  • Improve their present mood,
  • Improve their awareness,
  • Improve their ability to understand and think,
  • Help their sense of identity and independence.

Help me enable folks with dementia to have a bespoke playlist, connecting music, people and memories. You can read more about the charity here http://www.playlistforlife.org.uk/ - their vision is "that every person with dementia has access to a unique playlist of their life, to help unlock who they are".

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.
