Trek the Canyons with Discover Adventure October 2017 · 7 October 2017 to 14 October 2017 ·
Our aim is to raise money for Rowcroft who we feel provide such an important part of patients care who are living with life limiting illnesses.
The challenge is to ride 575km (358 miles) from the iconic Grand Canyon to lavish Las Vegas. It will be 5 full days of cycling through challenging steep climbs, deserts, national parks, rivers and lakes!
Day 1 = distance of 90km and a total ride time of around 9 hours. Lots of up hill on this day.
Day 2 = distance of 100km and around 9.5 hours of riding time.
Day 3 = distance 140km but mainly down hill with 8.5 hours of riding.
Day 4 = distance of 125km with around 10 hours of riding.
Day 5 = the shortest ride at 56km of distance at a total of 3 hours of ride time to our final destination!
With hard training leading up to the expedition and sponsorship from our kind friends, family and work colleagues - we want to give Rowcroft as much support as possible for those friends and family members who we have lost along the way! Please support this massive challenge of ours and for such a great worthy cause!
Rowcroft Hospice:
It takes time, compassion, patience, medical expertise
and money to help patients and families make the most of every day, but every
year Rowcroft Hospice help over 2,000 people living with
life-limiting illnesses in South Devon to do just that.
By providing comfort, support and specialist services
in patients’ homes, in the community and at their Inpatient Unit in
Torquay, they enable families to share precious and joyful moments when
they are needed most – whether it’s a beautiful wedding, remarkable reunion,
simple thank you or gentle cuddle.
At the hospice premises in Torquay, a team of
doctors, nurses, social workers and a range of other health and social care
professionals provide specialist care in the 12-bed Inpatient Unit.
They also care for out-patients and their loved
ones, offering therapies, bereavement support and medical consultation in an
environment that helps patients and families make the most of precious time
together.
