DERBY CATHEDRAL 212 FT ABSEIL

Derby Cathedral Abseil · 11 September 2021 ·
I’ve been scared of heights since a child, so have taken on the challenge of abseiling down tall buildings!
My first abseil challenge was 2 years ago – I abseiled 100ft down of the side of Queens Medical Centre and raised £214 for Queen's Medical Centre to help provide specialised diagnostic equipment and fund research into childhood illnesses. I did this in memory of my two brothers who died as babies with heart conditions.
This year I am more than doubling the height of my last challenge and abseiling 212 ft down the side of Derby Cathedral
My aim is to raise money for the charity 'When You Wish Upon a Star' which grants the wishes of children living with a life-threatening illness.
The charity also organises days out and treats for the children, helping them to have some fun and smile.
To take part I will need to climb 189 steps of the 212-foot tower to then abseil down the side of the cathedral. I am nervous as heights make my legs wobble, but it's helping children so well worth the fear!
