In memory of Derek Bettany
St Luke's Hospice Plymouth provides end of life care in Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall. It is the generosity of the caring community and people like you who enable over 300 people and their families at any given time access to this specialist support through the toughest of times.

Story

Derek Bettany - 15 May 1938 - 8th April 2022 - had a full and active life and he was loved by all.  His kindness, laughter and strength touched everyone's hearts and he will be sadly missed.

He joined the army as a cadet and left as a Major of the Royal Army Medical Corp.  He travelled the world, had two loves in his life Freda and Teena and of course will be remembered fondly by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He struggled with his health for some years but was unable to conquer this last battle.  He died peacefully in his sleep after a short but special stay at St Luke's Hospice Plymouth.  The staff's kindness, care and support was amazing.
