Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My 6 year old cousin, Yolani May O'Neill, is currently fighting leukemia and I wanted this years annual Paul Walsh Memorial Walk to raise money for CLIC Sargent as they've really helped her and her family at their time of need. She's a very brave little girl who's facing a terrible illness and I wanted to do this as something positive for her.
In case you don't know too, Paul Walsh was my best friend and band mate from Pholk Law who died in December 2011 after falling over and hitting his head. Being ex-forces, he was a huge fan of the outdoors and was always arranging treks to test himself so in 2012, myself and a few others completed the walk that Paul himself had been planning to do before he died. I fundraised for my daughters school last year but this year, as my cousin is so poorly, I've decided to fund raise for CLIC Sargent which is such a worthy cause and they've made a huge difference to Yolani and her parents. This year we've also added several miles and canoeing to the walk and will be completing just over 120 miles so I hope that you'll be able to spare a pound or 2 to sponsor me.
Pholk Law will be playing a charity gig of live Irish music at the fantastic THE HAWBRIDGE INN in Tirley (near Apperley), Gloucestershire, GL19 4HJ (01452 780316) on Friday the 3rd of May. All proceeds to CLIC and it starts at 7.30pm and will include a raffle, an auction and the odd head shaving and body waxing for charity! Hope you can all join us there.
Pholk Law will also be playing a live lunch time session (which will go into the evening) at the excellent THE ROYAL ARMS, LLANGROVE, Ross-on-Wye HR9 6EZ (01989 770267) during the walk on Saturday 25th of May. There's excellent food and great family atmosphere and we hope you'll come and support the walkers. There will also be raffles and auctions and it would be a good idea to ring ahead to book a table with all proceeds going to CLIC Sargant
We're starting the walk on the 19th of May at the Story Arms, crossing over the Brecon Beacons, and then over the Black Mountains into Hay-On-Wye and then we're canoeing 57 miles from Hay to Ross-On-Wye and then we're walking from Ross back to The Hawbrige, Tirley and we aim to get there Monday 27th May. If anyone wants to join us for a part of the trek, you'd be very welcome and if you'd like to join us for a pint when we get back we'd love to see you! We will be updating this site with pictures as we do charity gigs and pictures as we are doing the walk.
