Story
My name is Des, first I would like to thank you for looking at my JustGiving page.
I have supported the Garden House Hospice, since Chris passed away in 2013, in a few ways by doing the Starlight Walk, the London Nightrider Cycle Challenge in 2014, in 2015 I did a road trip with two friends to the Pamir Highway, Tajikistan which covered 7000 miles, most of it on
difficult roads and in 2016 I cycled from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam to Angkor Wat Cambodia a total of 518km over 8 days cycling .
The support I had during Chris’s illness from the Hospice at Home nurses allowed her to be at home till the end and I cannot thank them
enough.
This year I will be doing what I am calling a Challenge Accumulator. This will involve several challenges throughout the year.
The first will be cycling the ETAPE Loch Ness, Scotland at the end of April. This is a total of 65 miles with a long climb near the middle of the ride which adds greatly to the challenge.
Second is to cycle from London to Amsterdam in July over a
period of 4 days the hardest part being from London to Felixstowe which is approximately 90 miles with a number of hills to climb..
Third is another cycle challenge in November. This is cycling
through Laos and is a more difficult challenge than last year due to several hills and mountain climbs this is classed as tough. Cycling will be for six days.
As with the other challenges I have done these are self-funded
and any money raised through donations from this JustGiving page and any other fundraising donations will go directly to the Garden House Hospice.
I have promised to do something different each year for as long as I can, to Support the Hospice which needs over £3M per annum to continue to give the support to their patients and families in their hour of need and after. So I would like your support so I can add to the funds required to keep this cherished group together.
