DofE Diamond Challenge · 31 December 2016 ·

We’re more determined than ever to make sure new generations, especially young people from disadvantaged groups, can discover the power of DofE.

Story

I'm not putting it off any longer. After years of being a keen walker, I'm now going to climb the four big ones for the first time -Snowdon in Wales, England's Scafell Pike, Slieve Donard in Northern Ireland and the highest of them all, Scotland's Ben Nevis.

I'll be joined on this epic trek by a small team of colleagues from The Camping and Caravanning Club, of which I am the Director General, and guests. And I'll be camping at Club campsites along the way.

My plan is to tackle these four peaks in August to support the Diamond Anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards. The Duke of Edinburgh is the Club's Patron  and as such we have been long-standing supporters of the fantastic work undertaken by the Dof E to support young people. More recently our own Camping Club Youth section has begun to deliver the prestigious awards programme.

I will be visiting four wonderful mountains in support of a very worthy cause. I hope you can support me.
