Downe House 24 Hour Danceathon · 27 June 2020

Blueprint for All work with young people and communities to create an inclusive society in which everyone, regardless of their race, ethnicity or background, can thrive.

Story

In the Summer Term York House usually host a charity event to raise funds for their chosen causes. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we had to cancel this event, however, thanks to the wonders of technology, we are able to host an alternative event virtually! The school community will be asked to get involved in a 24 hour Danceathon in order to raise money for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. Girls will be dancing for 10 minute blocks over a 24 hour period (Saturday 27th June-Sunday 28th June) seeking your donation to this worthy cause. Members of the house community felt strongly that we should proactively support anti-racism and, importantly, that the chosen charity promotes worthy values and opportunities in need of financial support. Thank you for your support and for helping the house continue its Summer Term tradition in an alternative form. We feel very humbled that we can contribute in some way as a community.

The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust was founded to tackle inequality in all forms. We're dedicated to transforming the life chances of young people and improving the world in which they live. We support young people from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to inspire and enable them to succeed in the career of their choice. We support community groups to develop new skills and play an active role in building stronger communities. And we help organisations to create a more inclusive culture in order to achieve lasting social impact.
