In June 2014, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer.  Fortunately, through early detection I was able to make a full recovery and I will be taking part in the NYC Marathon on 2 November 2014.  Training for the marathon has been a fantastic goal for me as I get back on track.

Although still rare compared to other cancers, testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged between 15-45 years with around 2200-2300 men being diagnosed in the UK each year.  If found at an early stage a cure rate of 98% is possible and even when testicular cancer has spread to other areas of the body cure can still be achieved.  So it's vitally important for all us blokes to keep an eye on any lumps or anything that seems unusual in the downstairs department.  Don't be embarrassed about seeking help as the sooner you get it checked out, the better.  Believe me!
