HMPPS Welsh Peak Challenge · 26 April 2019

Steel Warriors believe that young lives should be built on steel, not destroyed by it. We are a unique and innovative sport-for-good charity, the only one to use steel from seized knives to make outdoor gyms, where we deliver free calisthenics classes to young people and the wider community.

Story

12 raring to go DHL members of staff from the HMPPS (Her Majesty Prison and Probation Service) contract have decided to drive to the beautiful Welsh countryside, dust off those walking boots and pitch up an old tent and climb 3 welsh mountains over one (hopefully sunny)weekend in April 2019.

The 3 day and 3 night camping trek will total a 2,864m climb and 22 miles of difficult mountain trails on Mt Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen Y Fan.

The Challenge has been set to raise money for Steel Warriors, a charity which aim to bring down knife crime, educating and rehabilitating those affected by knife crime.

We as a contract have a lot of focus on Rehabilitation and aim to provide those that are willing and able to work following a prison sentence to go into employment. Only 22% of offenders who go into full time employment re-offend as opposed to 70% that don't go into full time employment within their first year.

Thank you for your support,
