Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those that know me and those visiting this page, I've been an insulin dependant diabetic for almost 30 years. Being diagnosed at a young age (7) it was hard for me to adapt, but with the help of the diabetic clinic and diabetes UK they've made the condition more of an inconvenience than anything else. Fortunately for me, I have enough experience with diabetes now that I've even mentored younger diabetics and given talks in the past on my experiences. They've not all been good and if it wasn't for the support of diabetes UK, I possibly wouldn't be here today.
On Sunday 24th June, I along with 100 other type 1 insulin dependant diabetics will be attempting an official World record for the most amount of diabetics to complete a half marathon together in Swansea. Along with the official world record attempt, a number of the team will also be wearing sensors in the month lead up to the race to have their diabetic readings recorded 24 hours a day in order to contribute to a pioneering study showing how exercise can help control diabetes, EXTOD (exercise for type one diabetics).
Every penny raised will help diabetes UK continue their work to help combat diabetes and create a world where the condition can do no harm.
