Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be running the The Great South Run for the first time this year. It is a fast and flat 10 mile run that takes in the iconic sites of Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard. I will be running past the Spinnaker Tower, HMS Victory and Portsmouth Cathedral as well as along the sea front. I am doing so in memory of Tom Clayden, a good friend of mine, to help raise money for the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at St Georges Hospital where Tom was treated and cared for after he suffered a sudden and unexpected bleed into the brain in April this year.
Sadly, following successful surgery to stop the bleeding Tom developed a serious complication known as vasospasm and died on the 6th May 2012 .
Ellie (his wife) and Tom have been family friends for over 6 years since Richard, their eldest, started school with my son Joel. Ellie, Richard and youngest son Christopher are hoping to raise £20,000 to buy St Georges Neuro-intensive care a special piece of equipment that will hopefully prevent the risk of vasospasm and help others survive this devastating complication.
So please give generously and help the Neuro ITU unit improve the outcome for other patients who are unfortunate enough to also suffer an unexpected brain haemorrhage.
