Story

Please help us raise money and awareness of mental health issues by supporting this body combat marathon.

My son Kyle, had always been a very happy little soul, but found life fairly difficult sometimes. Being severely dyslexic took it's toll on him as he found even basic things sometimes quite tricky. After a selection of random jobs, he finally decided that he wanted to go into the army. He didn't get through selection a couple of times. However, he never gave up, didn't quit, picked himself up; dusted himself off, never lost his spirit and kept on going in the face of adversity! Eventually, he made it. He'd never been prouder of himself and rightly so!

Kyle found army life tough, got a few knock backs, struggled with the academic work but still, didnt quit! After a year or so, he couldn't continue. He left the army and was very depressed. He was lost, disappointed in himself and he became very distant and isolated. He felt that there was no way out. He failed to see any kind of future. He gave up. This wasn't the boy that we all knew and loved.

Just a few short months later, on February 19th 2018, we received the news, that my darling boy, had taken his own life. Kyle, would've been 21 years old just six weeks later.

Kyle left behind, 3 younger sisters who adored him and left his family and friends completely bereft. The hole in our world and chasm in our hearts will never heal. We feel his loss, every second of every day. This is why it's important to us to do this. We need to try to prevent this happening to anyone else whilst doing something pro-active in his honour. Kyle loved helping others and really has actually given his last pennies to people worse off than him.

So please, sign up, get sponsored or just donate and let's raise as much money and awareness as we can. Let's do all we can to stop anyone elses world falling apart by supporting this wonderful charity, who; if we'd have known about, things could have been so very different for our family but especially Kyle.

Once you have made your donation to Papyrus for entering the marathon, please use this same link to get sponsorship too. Head towards our Facebook page and search: PAPYRUS BODY COMBAT MARATHON. Add your name on the discussions section to the list of participants. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart for your generosity and support. X

This is for you baby boy. All my love. Mum xxx
