I don’t like running. Why would you want to finish work, lace up your trainers, and jog through the drizzle rather than heading down to your local for a pint? Anyone who runs for enjoyment has superhuman willpower. 

I’m not running the Edinburgh marathon for enjoyment. I’m running the Edinburgh marathon for the Stroke Association and for my young stepdaughter. Early in 2022, she had a significant stroke and was rushed into emergency care. She is now at a specialist hospital where she is beginning her recovery. She is working so hard to get better. She is picking up new words all the time, her left-handed writing is incredible, and she is unbeatable at dog dominoes. I love her immensely. 

I’m also running so I can help, just like the many other people who love my stepdaughter and are proud of everything she does..  

By sponsoring me, you will help the Stroke Association support the 100,000 people who have a stroke each year. Not all those people are like my stepdaughter or have close family and friends, but all of them need your help. Your sponsorship means the Stroke Association can provide them with additional specialist support, fund vital research, and campaign even harder so they get the care and support they deserve.
