Dieppe to Paris 2018
Catherine Huckin is raising money for Brain Tumour Research
In memory of Alan Huckin
Dear Friends and Family,As some of you may know we are intending to cycle to Paris from Dieppe during the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May. We will be a small group of friends and family cyclists - Penel Stitcher, Philip Clive, Jo Hyne, Neville Lacey and myself. Tom Huckin, Alison Lacey and Jerry Hyne are providing our support group. This is a family organised event in memory of my husband Tom's father Alan Huckin, who died from a brain tumour at the age of 44. There is a wonderful charity called the Brain Tumour Research and we are hoping to send them a contribution to help with the enormous task of trying to find out why brain tumours happen and perhaps how they can be treated. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other form of cancer and yet the funding for research is very small.Brain tumours come in many forms and can affect young and old. They are not always malignant. I have an acoustic neuroma which is benign but my hearing has been affected. As it is slow growing I am monitored via an annual MRI. Years ago, this sort of treatment was unavailable so I am very happy to be able to help in any way which might provide straightforward remedies for seemingly difficult situations. We quite understand if you have had enough of sponsoring - any amounts will be very gratefully received. We will let you know how we get on, in the meantime it's back to the training and the world of lycra and padded shorts! With many thanks to you allKate
