Those that know me well, will know that my father has been seriously ill, almost losing his life through sepsis. However, he did not come away unscathed, he lost both legs and two fingers. 

The care he has recieved from our struggling NHS, has been phenomenal! Only this week, (with help form the amazing physio team at Canterbury and only a little over two months since his amputations) he took his first steps on his new prosthetics. A momentous feat, after all he's been through. 

None of this would’ve been possible without the dedicated professionals in ICU Margate, who kept him alive with second by second fantastic care, for a little under three weeks. From there, we extend our thanks to Sandwich bay, Margate, where he spent a further three weeks. Here, they had the tough job of building up his strength and meticulously tending to his dying limbs, before being well enough for the amputations. The final leg of the  journey (excuse the pun) leaves me to thank the vascular team at Kent ward, Canterbury. They ensured a problem free, double amputation, with ongoing physio, to give him he best possible chance of an active and fulfilling life. What an amazing team!

We, as a family are so incredibly thankful to all that have helped him, that we feel, my jump should be in aid of my amazing father and our wonderful NHS.
