Amy and Buzz March On 100 miles for Different Strokes

March On For Stroke 2022 · 1 March 2022 to 31 March 2022 ·
Amy and Buzz (Jack and Amy's adorable new cockapoo) are pledging to walk or run 100 miles in March for March On, Different Strokes' fundraiser.
Not all of you will know, in April 2021 I suffered 2 strokes which affected my speech, reading, information processing and concentration. The strokes were caused by a broken artery in my neck that sent two clots up to my brain. My doctors think I broke the artery during a work out.
My stroke started while I was at work as a junior doctor. I called Jack my boyfriend from work, he instantly said "you sound like you've had a stroke" and my reply was "don't be silly, I'm too young to have a stroke"...how wrong was I?! When I got to A&E I couldn't even say my name to check myself in. Jack had to speak to the doctors for me and fight to get me a CT scan because the doctors thought I was 'stressed'...!
Jack, my family and my friends were so incredibly supportive at such a difficult time. I really struggled with the sudden change to my capabilities and independence. I found talking to people the Different Strokes charity so motivational, to see how far they'd come in their recovery pushed me forward in mine.
I am now back at work and training to become an volunteer ambassador for Different Strokes. I want to raise a little bit of money to help Different Strokes carry on their incredible work and keep supporting young people who have had a stroke.
If you can donate, please do and thank you! If you can't, I hope that you've learnt this disease can affected anyone at any age!
