Digging deep for Crohns & Colitis ... · 26 April 2014

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

I'm just a normal teenager with a abnormal body. My mission is to not only raise awareness of Crohns Disease but in the process raise funds for crohns and colitis UK - in the hope that one day they find a cure!!

In December 2008 I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease.

Crohn's disease is a long-term condition. It's a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines, especially the colon and ileum, associated with ulcers and fistulae.

There is also Ulcerative Colitis. lcerative colitis is a long-term condition, where the colon and rectum become inflamed and ulcerated.

Both can require surgery where part of the bowel is removed and you are left with a bag - stoma bag, colostomy bag, j-pouch ect.

At least 261,000* people are affected by Ulcerative Colitis (146,000*) and Crohn's Disease (115,000*) in the UK - Although recently published data suggest that this could be as many as 620,000.

It's a life debilitating and life threatening disease. My mission is to not only raise awareness of Crohns Disease but in the process raise funds for crohns and colitis UK - in the hope that one day they find a cure!!

So I will be doing a sskydive and other events to try raise as much as possible!

Thank you!
