Dijon to Amalfi: The Slow Way · 1 August 2016

The Joe Ellis Trust helps Isle of Wight children who have cancer and their families in their time of need. The Trust was set up in loving memory of Joe Ellis, who died 30/6/14, at the tender age of just 13 years, after being diagnosed with Primary Mediastinum large B cell Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Story

As the title suggests, we, a group of 4 close friends, are attempting to cycle across the spine of Europe, from Dijon, France to the Amalfi Coast, Italy. Clocking in at approximately 1,500km, this journey will take us past spectacular sights and challenges alike. Throughout the journey, we'll ensure at least two cyclists are always present and putting the miles in. The main cyclists, Jack and Tom, will only be substituted for other people when the need demands.

As ex-Christ the King College students, we studied for many years in an environment with which The Joe Ellis Trust has, and continues to, have a lasting impact. The motivation for this challenge was the incredible 100 mile feat achieved by Shawn Gavin, an inspirational teacher to three out of the four participants.

We trust that you empathise with our aims and thank you in hope of your generous donation.
