BUPA Great North Run 2013 · 15 September 2013 ·
In November 2011 my vibrant, beautiful, yoga doing, organic eating, intelligent sister in law was diagnosed with terminal Lung cancer. She was 36. At the time of her diagnosis her cancer was metastatic and had invaded her rib cage, liver and brain. Despite this she spent the year of her life that she fought the disease being an inspiration to us all. She married my brother, went travelling round France by bike and redecorated her house. 4 months before she died she completed the Great North Run to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer foundation. She did this less than a week after receiving radiotherapy to her pelvis to enable her to walk.
Lisa would have been a fabulous mum, she was a leading academic in her field and was an integral part of our family. She did not want to die and had so many plans and dreams that she did not manage to achieve.
The Roy Castle lung cancer foundation is the only charity that soley researches this disease. Please help them carry on with this research to prevent others having their lives cut unnecessarily short.
