Friendship Works improves the wellbeing and life chances of children who face multiple disadvantages. We recruit and train adult volunteer mentors who support children for a minimum of two years. Our mentors take children out three times a month to give them opportunities and positive experiences.

Story

As I'm sure you all know, neither of us have run a half marathon before (6 months ago Thi didn't even own a pair of trainers!) and it's the longest distance we've ever run. Jenny's planning to make it round in a decent time... Thi is planning to just about make it round.

Despite mutual reluctance, we've managed to bully each other into running first at lunchtimes and occasionally on a very sad Friday evening, running round the Embankment, praying we don't bump into colleagues in our leg warmers, ear muffs and high viz jackets!

As members of the Penguin Press Publicity team, Penguin will kindly double all the money we raise (Thank you John Makinson!) but don't let that be a reason to donate half!

Please be generous as we've picked our charity carefully, it's the Friends United Network http://www.friendsunitednetwork.org.uk/. It's a mentoring charity set up in for long term befriending for under privileged children Jenny spends every Saturday with Habzy and it's a small charity we both really believe in.

Thank you for helping us reach our target.

Thi & Jenny x
