Spartan Super - South London 2015 · 20 September 2015 ·
Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to visit the Dirty Mudder F*****s JustGiving page!
We have completed our challenge, but we're still taking donations to recognise our efforts. The challenge was no less gruelling than expected but what a feeling of accomplishment it gave us. We (myself, Wyn Robertson and Sam Allchin) took on the Spartan Super (8-10 miles) on September 20th and the Tough Mudder (10-12 miles) which was less than a week later on September 26th with very little recovery time. They were Obstacle Mud Runs consisting of 25-40 obstacles each and have been designed by British and American Special Forces (I can't confirm how true that bit is but it's how it's marketed, but nevertheless I think both will be very hard and gruelling!!).
My son Harri also dug in, joined the team and took on the Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder alongside my Tough Mudder challenge! The little warrior did brilliantly, being one of the youngest there and beat a lot of the older know it all's! Very proud of him, well done matey!
As you've probably guessed by now, we did this on behalf of charity and we chose MacMillan Cancer Support Group as we feel most of us in the group and people all over the world have somehow been affected by cancer, whether directly or indirectly.
It is a staggering statistic that an estimated 1 in 3 people will develop
cancer at some point in their lifetime, therefore by statistics two of us in our charity fundraiser group may one day develop cancer, so in providing this support to MacMillan we like to think that we are doing this for not just each other, but our families, friends and for everyone else's loved ones in the continued struggle against cancer, both now and looking ahead to the future. Please help make our cause and efforts worthwhile by providing a donation... no matter how small, it all counts. MacMillan could not continue its vital services without donations and fundraising from people like yourselves.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
If you are unsure of the work of the MacMillan Cancer Support Group, they are the unsung heroes helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It's not only patients who live with cancer, they also help carers, the affected families and the communities. They provide financial help and emotional support, they fund nurses and other specialist healthcare professionals as well as build cancer care centres. They do this purely for support of the affected and never for profit. Please visit their website for any further details.
