Distance for Dosh

distancefordosh · 10 April 2020
If moving 1km could generate £1 for someone in need, how far would you go? That’s the question we’re asking this Easter weekend.
The most vulnerable people are being deeply affected, more so than ever, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. The National Emergency Trust recently launched the Coronavirus Appeal to support charities and grassroots organisations on the front line who desperately need funding support right away. The key thing being that they’re able to distribute money securely and effectively to the groups that need it most.
So, with this bank holiday likely to feel a little different to years gone by, why not join us and make a positive impact by using your daily running or walking allowance for good. Whilst having important personal physical and mental benefits, we’ve come up with a way for it to improve the health others, too. Win-win.
We’ve called it Distance For Dosh and it’s simple, just pledge your target distance in pounds (using the 1km to £1 rule) before Friday, then - with four FREE days ahead of you - get outside and go for it. All proceeds will go towards the front line support for those being affected socially, economically and in health.
Please share away and let’s see how far we can travel.
To kick things off, organisers Nathan and Matt have pledged 80km each, equalling an initial total of £160 raised. A smidgen of what we were likely to spend in the pub this weekend under normal circumstances…
IMPORTANT STUFF:
Of course, it is critical that we all respect Government guidelines. This is a challenge for you to conduct either on your own or with roomies. Please shoot for a big goal but follow the rules. For us, we both live in London and will be running early to ensure we are not out during the busy periods and will also not be spending time outside the house beyond our daily exercise. The money we raise is critical to supporting the most vulnerable, but so is listening to instruction and getting through this crisis as quickly as possible.
• If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times
• Have a good old wash of the hands as soon as you get home
Do not meet others, even friends or family. You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.
Thanks a mil!
