Story
I am a current Social Work student at Uclan hoping to become a qualified Social Worker in Child Protection in my local area. Since starting my degree at Uclan I have become more aware of the amounts of abuse & neglect children face every day in the Uk. This has been a huge eye opener for me. The figures of this issue in society is a major concern and in the latest pandemic of Coronavirus the figures of child abuse & neglect has risen dramatically due to children being at home with abusive parents and having no escape to school. Hearing the stories about child abuse and neglect has pulled on my heart strings therefore I want to do anything to ensure I am helping the vulnerable children today. In order to achieve this I have decided to start doing 10,000 steps in fancy dress for a whole month starting 1st March- 31st March in hope I will raise significant funds to put forward to the NSPCC.
NSPCC is the leading children's charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. This charity helps children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk, and find the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening.
Every child deserves the best possible chance to rebuild their life after abuse therefore I would appreciate any donations possible so we can help this amazing charity fight for every child’s needs and put a stop to child abuse & neglect!
I will update my page with pictures & videos of us in our fancy dress completing our steps :)
