I grew up with Annette, as my pesky younger sister. She was just a normal sister, getting in the way etc But, she was so special too - she fought CF with a tenacity that I could only admire - emulation was out of the question. She just would not let it rule her life so she went to uni, got a job, bought a flat and a bright red sports car - all the things that young people going places do. She had such amazing friends. But what few saw was the fight every day to get out of bed and go to work. Working for the BBC was so special to her and she would give up her social life and much else to get to work. Saying goodbye 10 years ago at Christmas was so hard - you can't imagine the dignity of her last days and hours as she accepted what was going to happen.
