Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Dodo's JustGiving page.
As many of you reading this will know Doreen was one of a kind. The fact she went by the nickname Dodo says a lot about her! She loved to be the centre of attention, always tried to make everybody laugh and was the most caring and loving lady out there. She was the star of our family and will be greatly missed.
Dodo had an action packed life and loved to tell stories of her days in the WAFS or recalling the best way to make a sunflower grow (all of you who know the answer to this will understand!). There are far too many stories for us to list here, so we would like you to do it for us. For all of you out there who have ever had a smile put on your face by her, or that have a funny story then please share it below, we would love to hear it.
Rather than spending money on cards or flowers, we would be grateful if you could spare a donation to support a worthwhile charity to try and stop other families from suffering from this awful disease. Alzheimer’s may have taken the last few years of her from us, but it certainly has not taken our memories. We hope that you can help us keep the memory of our favourite lady alive and help raise money to fund research and help others. We would love to see something positive come from our experience. We have been blessed to have met some lovely people along our journey who have cared and loved Dodo as if she was their own family and by donating to this charity, we aim to help other families along their journey.
Dodo was an inspiration to many and we are fortunate to have been able to call her our family. Please give whatever you can, no matter how small, but most importantly please let us know what you think of when we say ‘Dodo was….’ Leave us your memory and help us remember this special lady.
We will also be taking donations at the funeral and will be donating those to Alzheimer's Research UK. An equally important charity that too is close to our heart.
The funeral will be held at 2.45 on Friday 17th April at Dewsbury Crematorium. We would love it if you could join us to celebrate her life.
Thank
you for helping us give her the send-off the she deserves.
