Story
On 25 September we will be rowing 21 miles along the River Thames as part of the Great River Race. Technically speaking, the term is not rowing but ‘pulling’, and the battleship we will be pulling is a fixed seat, 4-oared tub called Dolores. Essentially a bath. With a flag. Our efforts are all in aid of Mind – the country’s leading mental health charity.
The Great River Race has been ’s river marathon since 1988 and this year we’ll be in an armada of 300 boats heading from Docklands to Ham. For more information please visit: www.greatriverrace.co.uk. You'll see that it’s a fantastic event to watch and cheer from a charming riverside pub. We can recommend a few.
Mind campaigns vigorously to create a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all - a society where people with experience of mental distress are treated fairly, positively and with respect. They do this through community support, telephone information lines, lobbying, publications, legal advice and training. It's a fantastic cause. With one in four people likely to experience a mental health problem in their lifetime then our efforts should mean that 24 of you should not!
Please support our ridiculous endeavour and help those experiencing mental distress.
