Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I lost a very good friend to cancer in 2012. During David's illness I saw a huge value in the help he received from support agencies who offered specialist support and understanding whilst treating him with dignity and respect.

I'm going to run in the marathon to both raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and to remember David, who was an incredibly active person throughout his life and was one of the people responsible for getting me running again. It will be almost a year since David died by the time the marathon takes place.

I want to use the marathon to raise money so that other people with cancer can receive specialist help from Macmillan Cancer Support.

I've chosen the Berlin marathon to run in not just because it was the closest in date to the anniversary of David's passing, but also because I was born in Berlin in 1973 - I'm the same age as the marathon, and I think it'll be a suitable challenge to take on for a man fast approaching middle age!
