Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Dominic Williams and Jon Hancock are raising money on behalf a Nursery School called Kwasa by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania over seven days. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa at 5895metres (19341Feet). Kilimanajro has everything – all types of climate from tropics to arctic conditions as well as coping with altitude sickness.
Kwasa nursery school uses education to break the cycle of poverty, unemployment and premature death for the 15,000 residents of Daggafontein, an informal settlement 20 miles east of Johannesburg. The settlement has no electricity, schools, sanitation or roads; water is supplied by 10 standpipes; Aids, prostitution, alcoholism and domestic violence are widespread.
Kwasa provides 150 pre-school children with an education and two daily meals. A further 100 children are then sponsored through state English and Afrikaans speaking primary and secondary schools in Springs, the neighbouring town, returning to Kwasa after school for language and homework support. And two orphan houses provide protection and care for children without families, or who are especially vulnerable.
Dominic and Jon will be spending a week at Kwasa before starting their trek up Mount Kilimanjaro to help with DIY improvement works and supporting the children with their educational learning.
Kwasa is trying to raise funds to pay for yet more children through primary and secondary school, and ultimately to build a primary school, a medical centre and an orphan house on site.
Sponsoring Dominic and Jon will help towards funding these much needed projects. Please help and give as much as you can. Thank you so much for your help. On return we will let you know how it went.
