Apart from mosquitoes (which put all other death dealers to shame - go on, Google it), tickers giving out do for more of us than anything else. Being part of a high-risk group (i.e. my family have been seen in tartan on occasion), I am keen to help mitigate that risk on both a personal and broader level.

For the past few years, I have participated in the BHF London to Brighton cycle rides, either on (55 miles) or off-road (75 miles) variants. Last year I did both and vowed 'never again'. So this year I am undertaking the BHF South Downs Way Off-Road event (obvs), which is 100 miles off-road, mostly uphill. It is unlikely to be pretty ...
