Land's End to John O'Groats - 1400 miles, 26 miles of ascent, partially off-road (GBDURO route) · 6 June 2022

Cycling UK's vision is of a healthier, happier and cleaner world, because more people cycle. We want people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to be able to cycle safely, easily and enjoyably.

Our planet is in a bit of a mess! Man-made climate change is causing chaos around the world. Things will get a whole lot worse if we continue to be dependent on fossil fuels, particularly for transportation.

Luckily, there's a brilliant solution: cycling!

Cycling is cheap - the only fuel you need comes from your own body. It's healthy - helping to keep your heart in good shape and burn off fat. It's clean - no dangerous emissions or air pollution. And it's fun - more smiles per mile than anything else.

But there's a problem...cycling on roads can be scary and dangerous. And if something is dangerous, people don't do it. This needs to change.

We need better, safer cycling infrastructure so that anyone who wants to, can cycle without fear of being knocked over. This is particularly important for our children, who should be able to cycle to and from school without being put at risk.

As you may have gathered, I am passionate about cycling, and its many benefits. So in June 2022 I'll be riding the length of the country from Land's End to John O'Groats and raising money for Cycling UK - the UK's leading cycling charity. They campaign for better, safer cycling infrastructure, making cycling (and walking) the natural choice!

About my ride...

I'll be riding unsupported. Just me, my bike (which, before you ask, doesn't have a battery) and a tent. I'm not taking the traditional road route, but will instead be taking a partially off-road route 1,250 miles in length with 16 miles of ascent - the equivalent of riding up Mt Everest three times. I'll be riding around 60-70 miles (7-10 hours) a day, for around 20 days, and hoping that my legs are up to the challenge.

If you would like to sponsor me then I'd be enormously grateful.
