Story
What, you cry, Peebles running and doing some work; what has brought on this pretty state of affairs? The answer is simple. I have decided to run the London Marathon in April this year to raise money for SPARKS; this is a life-changing charity that funds research into children's diseases. They have in the past supported my research to improve the outcomes of babies born very prematurely and through my involvement with their Medical Advisory Committee I am aware of numerous other studies that only happen because of their support. Often such research represents the best chance to improve life for babies and children suffering from significant disease, allowing them to fulfill their full potential. The charity is highly professional and efficient, allocating funds to carefully selected projects with the very best chance of changing outcomes.
This is the cause that has motivated me to break a promise made after my last marathon, run as an undergraduate, not to repeat the experience. As I pound the streets and parks of London at 06.00 am I remember why I made the promise in the first place. However, it will all be worthwhile if I can inspire you to sponsor me and donate to SPARKS.
