Teaching in Senegal with Project Trust

Donald Self is raising money for Project Trust

Teaching in Senegal · 20 August 2022

Since 1967, Project Trust has led the way in long-term international volunteering for young people. We empower 17–25 year olds to build confidence, resilience and leadership while making a lasting impact in communities worldwide. Our vision is generations of responsible and active global citizens.

Story

Hi, I’m Donald, an S6 student from Argyll. I am fundraising for Project Trust, a charity based on the Hebridean Isle of Coll, which selects young people to teach overseas. I have been offered the opportunity to teach for a year in Senegal during 2022/23 when I have finished school.

I applied to Project Trust because they only send
volunteers to projects where they are really needed. In Senegal, education is the key to progressing the next generation and providing socio-economic stability for individuals and the region. For me personally, it will also be a fantastic opportunity to really get under the skin of, and empathise with, a different culture: to gain insights, skills and experiences which I hope to take forward throughout my life.
However, to achieve this I need your help! I need to raise a total of £6,950 over the next year for Project Trust to fund my project and help the charity continue its global operations. Any donations no matter how small would be greatly appreciated.
