Fundraising for Leeds Hospitals Charity
Story
This year, one of the Stickyeyes team went through their own breast cancer diagnosis.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, we’re keen to support the professionals who gave such amazing personal support and give back to Breast Cancer Action, part of Leeds Cares, the charity for Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Her story:
In April this year, I found a lump. I never really thought much of it, but I called the GP anyway, and they referred me to the Breast Clinic at St James Hospital for some tests.
Fast forward two weeks, and I was sat in a chair being given a breast cancer diagnosis.
As a young woman, it came as a big shock - I'd never really thought about cancer affecting me before.
Thankfully, my cancer was low grade and relatively straightforward, so after two surgeries and 20 sessions of radiotherapy, I'm out the other side - only six months on!
Leeds Teaching Hospital and the Breast Clinic in particular were incredible. The care was outstanding, and despite COVID, I was treated very swiftly.
I want to give something back to Leeds Cares, and the Breast Clinic, as the work they do is truly mind-blowing and life-changing.
What we’re asking you to do:
As we all known, lunch was an integral part of the Stickyeyes day and whilst we’re at home we’ve been missing the sourcing, camaraderie and enjoyment of eating lunch in our teams.
So we’re asking you to donate the money you’d normally spend on lunch on Thursday 29th October to help us raise funds for Breast Cancer Action.
On that day we’ll join together on Teams for a #StickTogether lunch, hear from some guest speakers and help make a difference to more peoples future.
So please, donate your lunch for Breast Cancer Action.
