Shaftesbury is the charity that's committed to enabling people with disabilities to live the life they want to lead. We work helping people to tackle the barriers they face and create a livable life. We believe that the people we support have the right to a full and flourishing life.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you will be aware, I work at Victoria Education Centre (VEC) in Poole.

VEC is a special needs school where the students have physical disabilities or complex/neurological conditions and many have additional needs including communication difficulties, learning difficulties and sensory impairments.

Using outdoor play equipment improves flexibility, muscle strength and co-ordination. It can also improve body awareness, motor skills and balance.

The wheelchair trampoline will provide an opportunity for our students regardless of their ability to enjoy a fun experience.

The affect of deep pressure and weightlessness together has many positive effects on the brain, and can help with behaviours often seen in children on the autistic spectrum, from increased concentration to an increased sense of calm.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
