Story
Our Story: Olivia was 9 when she tragically lost her sister Lily in April 2016. Heading into her teenage years, I was worried about the new pressures she would face amidst a backdrop of loss and grief. Through the grace of love & connection, we met Sam Benvegna, a counselor at PennEx and a friend who could identify with Olivia's loss. For Liv, I believe this was a life changing experience and she now has an extended 'family' that she can trust and confide in and just be a kid. The camp is free to any child who experienced loss. It is 100% run through generous and kind donations of friends like you. I hope Liv can participate and contribute for many years to come.
PennEx Story: Our fastest growing program, this location has outpaced our projections every year in order to meet as much of the demand as possible. Campers come from all around the country and from all different circumstances and situations and find unity in their shared experiences with grief. Our home at Camps Equinunk and Blue Ridge are the perfect backdrop for trying new things, taking safe risks, and reaching beyond our comfort zones to grow as people and as a community. For 6 weeks, we will embrace the spirit of competition as the camper, volunteers, and friends of each camp compete against their extended camp family to see who will emerge as the winner in the Battle of the Camps.
