A friend of mine (Gaz Bailey) lost his precious son very suddenly on 20th March 2012 to Leukaemia at the tender age of 13 months.

As a parent of two children i just cannot imagine what Gaz and Carly and their whole family have been through in the past 12 months, and for those of you that are parents yourself i am sure you can't either.

Since knowing about Finley's passing i knew i wanted to do a challenge that would allow me to raise money for the Candlelighters Charity, which was founded by Parents of Children who have had, or have Cancer. For me i needed a challenge that wouldn't be a breeze and something that would make me work hard and put me through a few pain barriers (just like the children and families of those suffering with cancer), therefore i will be doing the Leeds Half Marathon on the 12th May 2013.

By donating to the Candlelighters you will be helping them to provide continuous funding for the Research into Childhood Cancers and to help fund the additional Medical, Nursing and Social Support Staff. Wherever possible this is on a "pump priming" basis. (NB: Priming is when a charity provides the start up or a new post for an agreed period of time and at the end of this period the NHS takes over the funding).

I urge all of you to please donate on my Just Giving Webpage no matter how small, as every little helps. No parent should go through what Gaz and Carly have been, and are continuously going through.
