Story
On 10 June 2023, 17 brave KN’ers will take part in the Dorney Lake Triathlon in Windsor - home to the London 2012 Olympic rowing events. Some will be doing the Sprint distances (750m swim, 20km bike ride, 5km run) and some will take on the challenge of the Olympic distances (1500m swim, 40km bike ride, 10km run) but all will be winners on the day by undertaking this 3 leg sporting event in order to raise money for Kingsley Napley’s two sponsored charities Papyrus (https://www.papyrus-uk.org/) and CARAS (https://caras.org.uk/) along with St Raphael's Hospice in memory of our friend and colleague Conor Boyd.
After moving into St Raphael’s Hospice in March 2023, the staff cared for and provided support to Conor and his family throughout his time there. They showed him amazingly kindness and attentiveness – from arranging sunny breakouts into the garden, nick naming him ‘blue eyes’ after falling for Conor’s charm and arranging for a barber to come and tidy up his beard to keep Conor looking smart. On top of their incredible care for Conor, the staff at St Raphael’s Hospice showed unwavering support and empathy for Conor’s family and many friends who visited him, offering kind and comforting words.
Conor loved being active, and was often found cycling or swimming, so we will be thinking about him lots throughout the triathlon and we are very proud to be taking part in such an event to raise money for such a wonderful charity.
