Story
Well, I really am doing this.....
On Sunday July 29th, I will be cycling the Prudential London-Surrey 100 mile ride. It has been over 12 years since I was last on a bike and most significantly it has been 12 years since our son, Gavriel (then aged 4) was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
DMD is a devastating muscle-wasting disease that leads to paralysis and early death for all sufferers. The disease is 100% fatal. There is currently no cure.
Gavriel is now 16 years old and the devastating impact of this relentless disease is there for all to see. Together with our 3 other children, Gavriel is our inspiration and in taking on this challenge, I do so for him and for the hundreds and thousands of boys and young men affected by this horrific condition.
There has been so much progress in the scientific arena in recent years. The DMD landscape is unrecognisable from the baron and dark landscape that Gavriel was faced with 12 years ago. There is so much to be thankful for, so much hope and energy. We are almost there and with your help and support, we can continue to impact the tremendous global efforts in eradicating this disease once and for all.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and thank you for your support - it literally means the world to Kerry & I.
With love and tremendous gratitude,,
Doron
