At long last, a dream is coming true on the grounds on Beaumont Hospital.  The new Breast Clinic building will be completed later this year.  Whether you are a patient like me, a Breast Care team member or working on Clinical Trials and Research, you can look forward to a modern, purpose-built facility for diagnosis, treatment and therapy.  The fundraising goal is within reach. 

On 1 October 2020, I started a daily 10km challenge for that month. I needed a focus for my solitary existence in and out of lockdown. What started as an October project grew into a bigger personal challenge - to complete
          ONE HUNDRED 10km CHALLENGES IN 100 DAYS.

On 8th January 2021, I completed the challenge clocking up 1,304km with 66 walks, 14 hikes and 20 cycles in 100 days.  Keeping me going on the journey were the generous donors who augmented my personal €10 pledge for every 10km challenge I completed.  So far, together, we have raised over €6,600 for the Breast Clinic appeal. 

And as the interminable lockdown continues, I've decided to return to the road for the next forty days.  Because LENT is what you do.

With a €10 pledge for each daily challenge I complete, I'm looking forward to breaking the €7,000 target. And I'll be closer to completing a virtual walk from Mallow to Santiago de Compostela (2000km including walking on water from Ireland to France!).   If you would like to join me on the virtual camino challenge,  I invite you to travel with me -wherever you are.  

The Beaumont Breast Care team have faced up to the challenge of maintaining services during the pandemic.  What better gift for them and their patients than the keys to the new clinic?
