Story

Water is an essential part of our lives, right? Our bodies are roughly 80% water. Although we can survive for weeks without food, a couple of days without water would probably see us dead. And for so many people this is a concern for every single day of their lives. It's estimated that 1.1 billion people around the world don't have access to clean drinking water - that's more or less one in every 6 people, and also believed that roughly 5000 children die everyday too from diseases caught by drinking dirty water. This isn't too good, but... surely something can be done? Samaritan's Purse are running this campaign thingy called turn on the tap, where water projects are sprouted up all across africa and asia to provide clean, sanitary drinking water. The projects include the building of wells, drilling of bore holes, training up locals to man the sources, and also the creation of 'BioSand' water filters using locally procured resources to treat dirty water. Anyway I won't bore you with all the details, but if you want to know more check out www.turnonthetap.org.uk :)

I'm running 8 miles (the average distance women and children in africa have to walk for a round trip to collect water and take it back to the home) to raise money for this campaign, so would really appreciate your support :) every little helps, and if i can raise even just £40 that's enough to make a BioSand Filter thing.
