We create lasting change for children in urban poverty in Nepal. Many face daily neglect, abuse & exploitation — ignored, invisible & without hope. We improve well-being, education & job prospects while protecting them from harm. With our partners we help each child reach their full potential.

Story

Welcome to my fundraising page and thank you for coming!

I’m doing it again but instead of challenging myself to the Himalayas I’m strapping on my running shoes and heading to Namibia.

Nepal is Asia’s third poorest country and has an unacceptably high number of newborn and maternal deaths. More than 22 young mums die every hour in Nepal and South Asia due to avoidable causes. Their babies and older siblings become orphans, as their husbands cannot cope, run away and remarry.

30,000 infants die during their first month of life every year in Nepal.

In some areas of Nepal, 1 in every 3 children does not reach their fifth birthday.

CWS is changing this alarming reality but we need your help.  We and our partners desperately need funds for our health, education and social opportunities projects, that change and save so many thousands of lives every year, and I want to help raise some of it.

Between 17th May and 23rd May 2009 I’ll be taking part in a 250km challenge across the Namibian desert.  The distance will basically be a marathon a day, and temperatures will soar up to 40 degrees Celsius in the day, and drop to below zero after sunset.  I will be carrying all my gear and food myself.

I have set myself a target of £13,000 and I really need your help to achieve this.  Please do check out our CWS website: www.cwsuk.org and the race’s website: www.racingtheplanet.com

Please give generously to this cause, and help push me over the finish line of this grueling race.

Let’s put some smiles back on children’s faces, and literally save thousands of mothers and their children’s lives!

Thank you so much for your generous support.
