Doug, Nick and Pete's "Long Way Up Challenge" · 19 May 2009

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) is the UK’s leading charity representing and supporting half a million adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and children and young people with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), through our helpline, information services, research and campaigns.

Story

Pete is the one who is responsible for this act of Mid Life Crisis by Cycling across America in 1979. Being so inspired by Pete's (and RePete's) story, I (Doug) talked Pete, a Georgia Tech University Friend, into making a commitment to do a long bike ride some time in the future... as you do!! So now Pete is coming over to join Nick (my long time UK running buddy and neighbour) and I in this rather challenging challenge!

So, it ain't America, but we ain't 20 neither!!! So 'The Lands End to John O'Groats 3 Nations Challenge' was born in 2007 for completion in 2009 to commemorate some of our respective 50th Birthdays! Nick is still a kid!! We are a Canadian, British and American Multinational contingent of people that ought to know better!!

Doing such an event would be totally foolish..... without doing it for one of the many very worthwhile charities out there, so we have selected the

National Rhematoid Arthritis Society as Nick's wife Clare is affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis.

So, please dig as deep as you can to help us to hit our target! and do some real good for this really great charity.

23 June back to Wives and Girlfriends Maria, Clare and Patti. God Bless them!!

Thanks, Doug, Nick and Pete (Pedro!)
