In memory of Ellie McDonnell
We provide critical, pre-hospital care to trauma patients in Northern Ireland.

Story

Ellie McDonnell, a much-loved pupil here at Down High, passed away in September 2020 a year after her tragic accident. The  Air Ambulance for Northern Ireland came to Ellie's aid in 2019 and she dedicated her energies to raising thousands of pounds for this incredible resource, which has saved so many lives. In memory of Ellie, we hope to raise funds to support Air Ambulance NI. Covid restrictions prevented us from holding our lovely annual Carol Service in Down Cathedral, but our Music Department and some of our pupils recorded a socially-distanced service of lessons and carols on 26 November 2020. We want our school community and the general public to enjoy our Carol Service and give generously to this very worthy cause.

About the charity

Air Ambulance NI, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), provides the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for NI. Serious or life-threatening situations can happen to anyone at any time and on average every day one individual finds themselves in need of AANI.
