Story

Inverness College UHI is helping raise money for Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team in memory of Dr Anthony Luke, a Science and Chemistry lecturer at the College, following his death on 7th July 2021.

Anthony was a dear friend, valued colleague, lecturer and mentor to many. He was incredibly passionate about science and chemistry and an inspiration to the students he taught.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, numbers are limited at Anthony's funeral. Staff, students and friends of the College are invited to pay their respects to Dr Luke by leaving a message for his family on this page and making a donation in aid of Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team.

Glencoe is one of the busiest and longest established mountain rescue teams in Scotland, with typically 60-70 call-outs every year. The team covers a wide geographical areas from Rannoch Moor to the Etive Hills, to the Mamores and over into Morven and Ardnamurchan. It is made up of dedicated and highly experienced unpaid volunteers, who operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The team receives limited financial support from Police Scotland and the Scottish Government but could not provide its services without generous public donations.
